I grew up in a Christian home. We went to church every Sunday and I heard all about the amazing stories in the Bible.
But when I was around 5 years old, my parents got a divorce and I didn't get to see my Dad much after that. At the time, he was my best friend and that absolutely devastated me. I went into a deep depression and I cried a lot and didn't do very well in school. I only got to see my Dad once a year on Christmas Eve.
One day in church, when I was 6, it was around Easter and I was in Sunday school while my teacher was talking about Jesus. She told us that he loved us so much that He wanted to make a way for us to go to Heaven when we die. So He came to earth as a baby, grew up and He died on a cross and shed His blood to take away our sins so that we could live with Him forever in Heaven.
I'll never forget that day. We were in the kitchen in the basement of the church and there was a window above us where we could look out at the sky. I remember as she was telling us the story of Jesus, I was looking at the clouds through the window and I could feel God's love pouring down on me.
At the end of her story, she asked each of us if we wanted to know Jesus as our Savior and invite Him into our hearts. I felt very compelled to raise my hand. Right there in the basement of that little mountain church, I accepted Jesus as my Savior.
After that, my life changed! He wiped away my tears, healed my broken heart, and filled my heart with JOY! Even though I only got to see my Dad once a year, I was ok with that.
When I was older, God gave me the gift and passion to teach and to learn music. He used my musical talents and my teaching skills to work with children throughout my life and share Jesus with them.
Years later, after I grew up and got married, I reached out to my Dad a little more and he and I began to build a friendship. My husband and I made sure to spend time with him at least 2 to 3 times a year. I began to share the Gospel with him and I talked a lot about who God is. He liked it when I talked about God. He had lots of questions.
After my Dad and Mom got a divorce, he got married to a woman who didn't believe in Jesus. Every time I would talk about Jesus to my Dad, she tried to interfere by changing our conversations to other things. But I knew that he had a longing to know more about the Lord.
Years later, his wife passed away. A few months after that, my Dad came to know Jesus as his Savior at the age of 91. A couple of years later, he passed away. But I am so excited that one day I will see him again in Heaven where we can spend eternity together.
Maybe you have questions about who God is. Or what is the purpose of you being here on earth? Or where is your life headed? And where are you going to spend eternity when you die?
These are all questions that we ponder as humans. But did you know that we all have a desire to know who God is because we were created in His image? If you continue to read below, you will get to know a little bit more about who God is.
Read the sinner's prayer below so that you can pray to receive Jesus as your Savior.

God's Love
God is our creator. He is also the God of love. He loves you and has a purpose for your life. He wants you to have eternal life with Him.
The Bible says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever belies in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
Sin Separates You From God
God created us in His own image to have an abundant life. He gave us a free will. We don't automatically love and obey Him. We choose to disobey Him and go our own way because we were born with a "want to sin" nature. This sin results in separation from God.
The Bible says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
Jesus Died for You and Me
God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross and pay the penalty for our sins. On the third day, He rose from the grave and conquered death so that we can be forgiven of our sins and have an eternal life with Him.
The Bible says, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while were were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)
"Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)
Trust in Jesus
We must trust in Jesus Christ as our Savior and invite Him into our life.
The Bible says, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)
"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name." (John 1:12)
The steps to receiving Christ
1. Admit your need for Christ.
2. Believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and rose from the grave.
3. Confess you are a sinner and be willing to turn from your sins.
4. Invite Jesus to come in and control your life through the Holy Spirit. Receive Him as Lord and Savior. Tell others about your decision. Pray the prayer below.
5. Grow Spiritually by confessing your sins every day; Pray daily; Read and obey God's Word daily; Go to church to learn more about God and have fellowship with other believer's; Witness to others by telling them about Jesus.
Sinner's Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus,
I know that I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I repent from my sins now and ask for Your forgiveness. I invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. Help me grow in Your Word and live the life you have purposed for me. Thank you Jesus for saving me from my sins.
In Jesus Name, Amen

This slide looks at what scripture says about who God is. There is one main theme running through this set of scriptures. I encourage you to read every passage in this slide.
In each of these verses you will find specific words to describe who God is.
Do you notice what the main word is? It's "Love". God is first and foremost, a God of love.
John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him, should not perish but have eternal life.
But God also has so many other incredible characteristics. In these verses we see that He is Merciful and Compassionate.
If He were not Merciful and Compassionate, we would have to pay for our sins by spending eternity without Him in Hell. But because of His mercy and compassion, He made a way for us to be with Him for eternity in Heaven. That is through the shedding of Christ's blood.
Hebrews 9:22b says, "Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins." Christ came to earth and died on the cross for your sins so that you would have a home in Heaven with Him for eternity.
Salvation is His gift to every person on earth. This leads us back to how much God love's you and me and wants all of us to be a part of His family.
And we also see through these verses that He is Life and Light. He gives us life eternal and a freedom to live in Him. He is also our light that shines through the darkness of this world.
Next let's take a look at God's character.
You will find God's attributes and character throughout the whole Bible. Let's sum up what these verses say.
Most of these scriptures repeat themselves.
